THE ASHEVILLE ARMOIRE

INDIVIDUAL

ARCHITECTURE

The Asheville Armoire is an artistic initiative to reflect the grassroots power and the iconic style of the citizens of Asheville, North Carolina. The street fashion of Asheville uniquely blends Southern trends with DIY fashion, bohemian style, vintage chic, urban streetwear and often costume. The Asheville Armoire's mission is to demonstrate popular cultures and subcultures that find a home in this bubble of the South. I am the photographer and director of the Asheville Armoire initiative. The project started mid-January 2013.

The visual power of the individual has always struck me in an inexplicable way.  I habitually photograph individuals in their most lonely and independent forms.  Unique from portraits, my photos intend to convey a power of the active and reflective individual.  The locations of these photos range from Asheville, North Carolina to Paris, France.

I became increasingly in awe of archietectural design while backpacking Europe.  From ancient to modern, European architecture moved me to capture my emotional interaction with structures.  In my architectural photography I find the lines, movements and shadows of each building to convey my awe and exhibit the different moods of buildings.
